On September 9, 2019, at approximately 1:30am the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) executed a search warrant at 667 Twin Pines Road, Whiteville NC. Pursuant to the search warrant, an amount of cocaine and multiple weapons were seized.
On September 17, 2019, Marquez Montrell Cherry, 23, of Whiteville, was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service in Lumberton, NC without incident. Cherry was transported to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where he was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, and resisting a public officer. Cherry was held under an $80,000 secure bond.

Latreese Cherika Felencia Vereen, 26, of Whiteville, is currently wanted for possession of a stolen firearm and possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine.
Sheriff Greene wants to remind the public that it is important to pay attention to what is going on around you and to call 911 if you see anything suspicious. Sheriff Greene is also requesting anyone with information related to criminal activity in and around Columbus County to contact the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office at 910-640-6629.
